Car wreck leaves 2 dead, 2 injured and charged

A two-car accident on the north side of Milwaukee late last year claimed two victims, according to the Milwaukee Police Department. The collision also injured two women.

Reports indicate that two females were driving a stolen Kia Sportage at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 30 when police tried to initiate a traffic stop at Sherman Blvd. and Burleigh Street. The woman behind the wheel instead took off, heading north approximately six blocks where she then collided with a Chevrolet Malibu where Sherman Blvd. crosses Roosevelt Drive.

It is unknown how fast the Kia was traveling at the point of impact. Officers were not in pursuit of the Kia when the accident occurred. Both the Malibu driver and his passenger died at the scene.

The impact was so intense that car parts were scattered almost a block away. One witness reported, "The seats were folded up. You couldn't see the people in the car."

The two women in the stolen Kia, Milwaukee women age 21 and 22, were both arrested at the collision scene and transported with serious injuries to a local hospital.

Losing a family member in a senseless and completely preventable car accident is never easy to endure. Some families find comfort seeing that those responsible for their family member's death face criminal charges. However, regardless of the outcome of any criminal proceeding, justice can also be pursued through the Milwaukee civil courts.

If you lost a loved one or were injured yourself in an accident with an at-fault driver, you have a legal right to file a claim for your losses, injuries and damages.
